2023-24 Cost of Living Payments
You may be entitled to up to 3 Cost of Living Payments of £301, £300 and £299 if you get any of the following benefits or tax credits on certain dates:
- Universal Credit
- Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
- Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
- Income Support
- Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit
- Working Tax Credit
The payment will be made separately from your benefit payments. However, you will not get a payment if you are only getting New Style ESA, contributory ESA, or New Style JSA.
You can check your entitlement for these payments here.
If you’re entitled, you will get:
- £301 paid between 25 April 2023 and 17 May 2023 for most people on DWP benefits
- £301 paid between 2 and 9 May 2023 for most people on tax credits and no other low income benefits
- £300 paid during Autumn 2023 for most people
- £299 paid during Spring 2024 for most people
These payments will be delivered automatically.
You can report a missing Cost of Living Payment if you think you should have had one of the following payments, but you cannot see it in your bank, building society or credit union account. You should not report the same missing payment more than once.
2022 Cost of Living Payments
In 2022, a payment of £650 was made in two lump sums (£326 and £324) if you claimed the following income-related benefits:
- Universal Credit
- Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
- Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
- Income Support
- Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit
- Working Tax Credit
These payments were made separately from your benefit.
Most people should have received their 2022 Cost of Living Payment. Contact the office that pays your benefit or tax credits if you think you should have had one of the following payments but you cannot see it in your bank, building society or credit union account.
