HS2 Ltd has handled the closure of the A425 badly and their announcement of further delay makes matters worse. Every effort must be made to minimise further disruption and I am working with colleagues in Local Government to ensure that it is. Unless the period of proposed further delay is very short, I believe the best solution now is to revert to the original proposal of an offline diversion so that traffic can continue moving along the diverted A425 rather than along unsuitable alternative routes.
