Today is Ukrainian Independence Day; it has been 31 years since Ukraine declared independence from the Soviet Union in 1991 and exactly six months since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on 24 February. I recently had the pleasure of meeting with Ukrainians who have settled in my constituency at the Kenilworth Carnival. As of today, my office has helped 114 Ukrainians settle in the constituency.
The UK government will continue to celebrate the spirit and strength of the Ukrainian people and support them with our international partners.
