I was delighted to hear that South Warwickshire GPs have achieved outstanding scores in the recent GP Survey conducted on behalf of NHS England. The England-wide survey is sent out to over a million people across the UK and the results provide practice-level data about patients’ experiences of their GP practices.
Here in South Warwickshire we are lucky to attract talented and hardworking GPs who are committed to going the extra mile for their patients. It comes as no surprise to me that GP practices in South Warwickshire have bucked the national trend across all criteria.
Most practices within the NHS South Warwickshire Clinical Commissioning Group area were notably ahead of the average. Lapworth Surgery was at the top of the class, with a fantastic 100%! This is testament to their hard work and patient centric approach.
Our local doctors were recognised for delivering exceptional patient satisfaction, with an overall GP surgery experience result of 90% – five points ahead of the national average.
Over half of our practices are leading the way in ensuring patients can get an appointment, with improvements in their scores recorded over the last three years. At Abbey Medical Centre in Kenilworth, no less than 97% of patients said the last appointment they got was convenient.
Communication is key. At Castle Medical Centre in Kenilworth, 92% of patients said the last GP they saw or spoke to was good at explaining tests and treatments.
Confidence and trust are also at the very heart of excellent healthcare provision and the overall South Warwickshire result for level of confidence with their GP was a resounding 98%.
And it is not just GPs who have won recognition. At the Cubbington Road Surgery, 97% of patients said the last nurse they saw or spoke to was good at listening to them and 97% said the last nurse they saw or spoke to gave them enough time. 100% of patients had confidence and trust in the last nurse they saw or spoke to.
I want to congratulate everyone who has contributed to bringing about this wonderful set of results. They would not have been achieved without the strong commitment of South Warwickshire’s doctors, nurses, receptionists, practice managers and many others who contribute to make our local services what they are.
