I welcome additional funding from the Department for Transport to develop a ‘greenway’ on two sections of disused railway line between Rugby and Leamington in Warwickshire. The Line comprises of the disused Rugby to Leamington Line (between Birdingbury and Snowford) and a ‘branch’ line between Snowford and (between Snowford and Stockton).
The completed Greenway will:
∙ Replace existing ‘very poor’ sections with ‘very good’ quality;
∙ Provide a safe, attractive connection between Leamington Spa, Rugby and Long Itchington;
∙ Improve usability by constructing a smooth sealed surface;
∙ Expand the wildlife corridors;
∙ Enhance and provide a high quality leisure facility to the community
∙ Respond to local need to improved accessibility to green space
∙ Increase volunteer activity
