This week is Dementia Action Week. This year, I’m joining others to encourage everyone to start a conversation with someone living with dementia they know. Whether it’s calling a relative with dementia or visiting a neighbour, it’s time to start talking.
When I was first elected, I formed the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Dementia in 2007 and I continue to support the vital work this group does. I have seen first-hand the effect Alzheimer’s has on family members. Highlighting the problems individuals and families go through when they are affected by dementia, and breaking down barriers, is crucial.
