Southam MP, Jeremy Wright, is backing the campaign to recognise local soldiers who have been killed in conflict by naming roads after them.
Mr Wright was contacted by residents about the idea of naming the streets for a new housing development off the Banbury Road in Southam. Mr Wright has written to both the Town Council and the local authority about the consideration.
“While I appreciate there is a policy to avoid names of individual people or families,” said Mr Wright, “it seems to me that, as we mark the centenary of the outbreak of World War in 1914, this is a fitting moment to make a gesture of this sort in commemoration of our fallen local heroes, and I hope the idea will be considered favourably.”
