Delighted to officially open the new road leading to Avon Valley Bowls Club (AVBC). It has taken a lot of work from a number of stakeholders to bring this project to fruition and I was pleased to be able to bring parties together to help with the process. Following the opening, I was able to have a go at playing indoor bowls with members of the club.
There were also people in attendance from Warwickshire CC, Stratford DC, Warwick DC, Gaydon PC, JLR and Severn Trent. I was also able to meet with representatives from Bowls England, English Indoor Bowls Association, Bowls Development Alliance, Disability Bowls England and Visually Impaired Bowls England (VIBE).
On the day of the opening, AVBC also ran a 12 hour bowlathon with a team from Avon Valley IBC playing a team of visually impaired bowlers from VIBE. The purpose was to raise money for elite visually impaired bowlers to travel with their helpers to international tournaments.
